Picking Out Positives

Monday again, well it's not Monday now, but as I'm working nights again this week, it's Monday that I'm sharing with you now, are you still with me? 

I woke up reasonably early for me, around 2.30 and Hague got me a lovely dinner sorted almost straight away.

 It's been ages since I've had cous cous quiche and for some reason I really fancied it. It doesn't look overly appetising, but it tasted lovely, and I have a spare one for meals at work this week too :o) It's really easy, just soak some cous cous in stock, and add in some herbs, once it's soaked up all the liquid, smoosh it into an ovenproof dish and bung it into the oven whilst you fry off whatever filling you want in your quiche - mine had mushrooms, courgette, broccoli, tomatoes, mushrooms and sweetcorn, once your filling is softened, take out the cous cous, smother it with tomato puree, bung the topping on, pour over 3 beaten eggs, top with your HeA of cheese and bung it in the oven for about half an hour. It's lovely cold too.

As I seem to be having a run of hungry days, I followed that up with dessert, the lid has been removed from the yogurt so as not to upset those who like to stick to a sell by date....

It tasted fine, and so far I'm still alive :o) I spent the afternoon doing not a lot, although I did get an email saying that my beautiful New Rock boots - something I've been wanting forever, and have been a motivation for me - are on the way.

 Squee! I still got hungry again before work though, so rustled up some bacon cheese burgers before jumping into the shower and getting ready for work.

I was a bit nervous about work, it was my first night on my new team. I've been moved as the guy that got the job I went for has left a skills gap on his team, and so now I'm all trained up on the filler, it's off to his team I go, to be him for a while! So a new team, and on the filler on my own for the first time, so a tad nerve-wracking, but I got through it okay, fortified by this little lot...

Pretty standard work fare there, the chilli is courtesy of a bit of batch baking on Sunday, so expect to see that a few more times this week! Whilst at work I made a sterling effort to talk myself into out for a run. I've not been for a run since December 1st, and I have totally got out of the routine. Excuses have ranged from tiredness to it being too cold, but I decided that enough was enough, and I should really get back out there. I really wasn't in the mood when I left work, but one of my conditions (I wouldn't run if it was raining) was on the side of running, and so I got home still under obligation to get out there. I got my running gear on, still less than enthused, but I got out there, and whilst I didn't manage to run for 5K, I managed 3K, not too bad going really after so long of being lazy.

I ached though, and so after my bath, with snackage (obviously), whilst watching the Bake Off it was straight to bed for me.

So Monday done and dusted. I was pleased with myself for getting out for a run, but I did find it a bit of a struggle, only a few more runs will get be back to where I was though, and so that's the plan! For some reason, I've felt rather down today, or yesterday. Perhaps I was a tad more worried about work than I thought, and so it was nice to have that long soak before bed, and I did sleep well. Tomorrow (well today, you know the drill by now) brings weigh in, which I've already been to, but I'll wait until I blog about Tuesday to share how I got on. Mainly as it was crap.
