Going For Gold!

I really, really hope that there is a stupidly cheesey theme tune whirling around your head now ;)

For some reason I woke up stupidly early again yesterday. 6am this time, I spent the time very productively watching Secret Eaters until Hague woke up. Much as I enjoy Secret Eaters the programme frustrates me - how on earth can you be in such denial about what you eat? They all claim to eat heathily and have no idea why they can't lose weight, and are then all filmed having several take aways over the course of the programme. Bizarre. Are they just in extreme denial? Who knows. I DO know that I didn't need to be filmed for 5 days to figure out why I reached 25 stone. Far too much of the worse kinds of crappy foods!

Anyway, with Hague packed off to work I headed downstairs. Normally I am in bed for most of the day on weigh in day on my week off and so don't really eat, but as I woke up at 6 that couldn't happen, and so I got myself a large coffee and breakfast and caught up with yet another programme, this time it was Fat: The Fight Of My Life. I love this show, and Sarah, who was shown on the one I watched was just amazing, she went from saying she hated herself to completing an Olympic level triathlon. Just so inspirational, and I'd love to know how she's getting on now! My newly discovered inner fitness freak was also piqued by the idea of a triathlon too....maybe something to go on my to do list? Anyway....breakfast!

Natural yogurt with some muesli and blueberries, just something light to keep me going for my television marathon ;)

Which didn't actually last that long, as once Hague set off for work I decided that it was a good a time as any to get started on my Gold Body Magic award. Gold entails 2½ hours of exercise over the week, including two strength exercises. The time is mostly covered by my Couch to 5K runs, but I needed to find another hour of activity, mostly strength building, and so I took some time to work out a 15 minute routine using my exercise ball and kettle bells. It might not sound much, but boy does it hurt! I guess that means you're doing it right! After that it was off for a soak and then out to pick up Hague as he had to be at the station 15 minutes after finishing work, so I needed to drop him. After breakfast I hadn't planned on eating again, but hunger got the better of me and my Graze box came to the rescue, just 2½ syns for munchies to keep me going.

With Hague safely on his way to Barnsley, I popped into Asda to treat myself to some running leggings. I had tried them on on Monday, but wasn't sure - but practicality won out and so I went back and got them. I then decided to walk to group as the weather was so nice, although I had a minor issue when I pulled on my little faithful black skirt, and it fell right back down again....this exercise lark really does work on the old inches!

On the way to group I stocked up on the toasted cous cous and grabbed a cucumber for SotW, racking up more steps for the work challenge! The scales were kind, with another 1lb dropped, but I was far more excited about a non-weight award, my Silver Body Magic.

So proud, I really am. Bring on Gold now :)

Once group was done I was rather hungry, and couldn't wait to get home. I'd been discussing meal ideas with my friend Vicki whilst at group, and I think all the talk of cheese tempted me....

I had originally decided to forgo superfree completely, but was a good girl in the end :) Under the mountain of LowLow and mustard blobs are some sweet potatoes, along with roasted onions and mushrooms and a couple of Asda burgers. It all tasted so naughty, but the only syns are in the burgers and mustard. It was followed up a bit later with some dessert.

Then it was off to bed, as after being up for 16 hours, I was knackered!

I had spend part of the evening looking into what activities are included in strength training for the Gold award, and on noticing that aqua aerobics counted I had looked into where local classes were and saw there was one at 9am, well, as I've been getting up at stupid o'clock all week I thought that maybe I'd get my C25K done and then head for aqua, and with these plans whizzing around my head I drifted off to sleep nice and early at about 11pm.....

I did wake up just before 4am, but even I'm not that insane, and so after an hour or so I got back to sleep - and didn't stir again until around 11.30 when the postman knocked on the door.....so much for the best laid plans eh? As I was thwarted in my attempts to exercise, what else to do but hit the sofa and get comfy? I had my usual coffee and then got breakfast sorted.

Hiding under the eggs and beans are a couple of slices of bread, and there are also mushrooms and cherry tomatoes mixed in with the beans. I then got myself up to date with a few things on the Sky+ box, letting sofa glue well and truly claim me, but I felt rather guilty about lazing about when it was such a beautiful day and eventually freed myself and walked into town, catching up with a neighbour on the way, who was highly complementary about how I was looking :)

In a strange turn of events I found myself in Trespass, an outdoor clothing shop....I also bought myself a long sleeved running top in there. Although now I look highly unco-ordinated as all of my running gear is black, and my trainers white. How very awful. My trainers are just fine though, and so I'm wary of picking up new ones just yet, although they'll now obviously have to be black! I carried on my walk to Asda, to pick up some headphones as mine are buggered after their altercation with the candle the other day and then got myself home. MapMyRun recorded the walk at just over 4 miles in an hour and 15 minutes, not too bad, especially as that included me being in and out of shops, and all good Body Magic.

After a chat with Hague, food was high on the agenda again, and after a chat with TOK I decided to give the Asda Smart Price macaroni cheese a go today, as it's only 3 syns a tin!

I had originally planned on stuffing the macaroni cheese into the peppers, but it overflowed a bit! I had mixed in spring onions and american mustard then topped it with my HeA of cheddar, I also had some Cauldron lincolnshire sausages at ½ syn each and a salad. Something a bit different, but very tasty! Once that had gone down I donned my new running leggings and top (and my mismatched trainers) and headed out to do my C25K, the last run of week 4. I had struggled with my run on Monday, but found tonight's just fine, so I'm not feeling quite as worried as I was about moving onto week 5 - even though the third run is scaring the life out of me - 20 solid minutes!!!!

As per usual, after my run, I headed straight for a bath. Time has really gotten away from me today, and it was closing in on 11pm by the time I was back downstairs, I blame TOK as she was making me laugh my head off via the medium of text - not sure that laughing whilst alone in the house is something I want to make a habit of! I didn't want anything too heavy for dinner though, and so had a fruit salad, followed up with the rest of my HeA of milk and my Benefit bars.

With the time now whizzing away, it's past 1am as I type this, I'd best get myself up to bed! After racking up an hour and 45 minutes of exercise today, I think tomorrow might just be a total rest day, as I'm aching in places I didn't even know muscles existed. It feels good. That sentence scares me.

  2. Thanks for the Smart Price macaroni cheese tip. I've been looking for a few good value bits to have in the cupboard in case of munchy emergencies and that's just perfect! Good luck going for gold and yep, I do have to tune in my head :)
