The Dangers of Productivity!

Ah Sunday, a day for relaxation and laziness. A day to do not a lot and enjoy every moment of it :) I woke up feeling in rather a good mood. I'd had JadeyPuss upstairs with me, and she's a total cuddle monster and so I dropped off with her sleeping right next to my head, quietly purring away, which was lovely. If only she didn't wander in the night I'd always have her upstairs!

When I did wake up, I was nice and warm and didn't want to get out of bed. I perused Facebook and the first things I saw were both total mood boosters. One was a really beautiful message from an old, old friend which actually got me a bit teary, and the other was this photograph, taken at the clothes swap on Saturday.

No more before/after pictures for a while now, I promise lol! Suitably updated I hauled myself out of bed to get myself a nice cuppa and some breakfast. Making the most of being off work by having yet another cooked one.

Maybe a wee bit light on the superfree, but it was what I wanted, and once again I'd added in some Guinness HP to the spaghetti, my contribution to Paddy's Day. Once I was fed and settled on the sofa, I flicked through the channels until I found a fair few hours worth of Friends to watch and so commenced the TV watching and texting marathon that was my Sunday :) After not very long at all, I needed more tea, and as star week had descended, my sweet tooth needed placating as well, so out came a good old Benefit bar from Aldi.

After many episodes of Friends, and several of Come Dine With Me I go myself a bit of a picky lunch to have whilst the football was on, as the West Ham game was kicking off at 4pm, so I'd assumed it was on the TV. I was wrong, and so the picky lunch was picked at whilst I caught up with more Come Dine With Me and followed the match on the t'interwebz.

First discovery of the day - I'm not very good at you can see, I didn't so much slice it as hack it to bits, something I need to work on there I think! It tasted rather lovely though, and as you can see my sweet tooth was still in full swing!

With West Ham losing there wasn't much to celebrate, and my mind had to turn to preparing for work. A quick glance at my calendar told me that Monday's shift was a 12 hour, how's that for a kick in the teeth? Of course that means I need extra food, and so I pondered what to have. My plan was to do a mushy pea curry for dinner, and a lasagne for work, plus rice pudding for breakfast. In the end, I only managed the mushy pea curry for dinner and the rice pudding though. Slackness won out!

The curry was rather low in effort, and quite tasty - although I think it was missing something. Perhaps it just needs good old curry powder rather than the Tikka mix I used, anyway, as it's another quick and easy one, here's the recipe :)

a diced onion
2 tins of mushy peas
1 tin baked beans
1 tin tomatoes
chilli powder (I used lazy chilli)
curry powder (I used a Tikka spice blend)

As I used frozen onion, I softened that off a bit with the garlic before adding the mushrooms. When they were all cooked I just threw in everything else and left it to simmer with a couple of Quorn fillets and some mixed veg in whilst my rice cooker did its magic. As I say, I think it was missing something, but I can't put my finger on what. It was tasty enough though, and I'll probably try it again. It was lovely and filling too....although it does have a rather, erm, windy effect :)

With dinner eaten it was closing in on 7.30, not that late for normal people, but when you have to be up at 4.30 in the morning, it's cutting it close to bedtime, and I still had to sort out my food for Monday, and get the dishwasher emptied and refilled (again). So I rushed around chopping fruit, dishing up rice pudding and unloading the dishwasher and in my haste managed to stab myself with one of the upright knives :( So I had to get the rest of my bits ready with a hole in my hand, although a Hello Kitty plaster did help a little bit. This just goes to show that I really can't be left unsupervised!!

Suitably first aided, I got myself bathed and in bed, complete with a nice Fudgey hot chocolate and finally prised my hands from my iPad at around 9.30pm. Not too clever, and I'm paying for it today, as I'm shattered :(

I'm not sure my batteries were totally recharged, but it's what Sundays are all about :)

  1. I'm new to your blog and I love it. I have backtracked a few entries too. Don't stop with the before and after pics. They are great! Can I ask where you get your almond milk from? well done on your hard work. Jakki x

    1. Thanks for commenting Jakki :) I'm glad you like the blog! I get my almond milk from Asda, it's the Blue Diamond Almond Breeze unsweetened one, it's just £1 at the moment, and you can have 875mls as a HeA :)
