A Lot Of Pain, Not A Gain Though :)

Once again I have been AWOL. Not due to shifts this time, due to a rather hideous migraine which is still reverberating around my head :(

I think this picture sums up perfectly the joys of migraine for those lucky enough not to suffer. As I'm still not right, tonight's blog will be short and sweet I'm afraid, as I'm still feeling quite light sensitive and my headache hasn't cleared yet.

I should have known something was up when I was SO tired on Sunday, I really do need to pay better attention to the beginning phase of my migraines so I can start to understand when they're happening. I might have a better chance of heading them off then as well. Anyway, I woke up on Monday morning with a headache from hell, nausea and light sensitivity. No way I could make it to work like that, and so rather than greeting a returning Hague with joy at 10pm after work, he was greeted by a groggy girlfriend looking rather spiffing with an eye mask and full of ibuprofen!

Being the lovely, caring guy that he is, he made me have some dinner, and made sure it had all my Healthy Extras in as well.

As you can tell by the lighting, I was still suffering, so my cheesey, vegetable pasta was all I managed to eat on Monday.

Do you need a food diary for some cheese and pasta? Lol ;)

I had hoped to get back to work today, however my head was still killing me, and I still couldn't open my eyes this morning, and so I gave up the ghost and went back to bed. Trying to recover from a migraine whilst your kitchen ceiling is being replaced was never going to be easy, but I did manage to nap during the day. The nausea was still pretty bad though, and so I couldn't face food. I did dose myself up hugely though to drag myself to weigh in today. I figured that sitting for an hour couldn't hurt too much, and despite absolutely knocking me out, it was worth it.

As you can see, I really wasn't at my best, but it was a lovely moment, and even though I feel like absolute crap now, it was worth it to get such an amazing award. For the record, I lost another 2lbs, to give me a total loss of 6 stone 6½lbs since I joined on June 14th last year :) With the excitement over, and a stern telling off from Hague (another 2½lbs off from him), for pushing myself too much, it was time to head home and have something to eat.

Burgers (topped with my HeA of cheese), sweet potato and normal potato wedges, mushrooms, eggs and coleslaw. A bit of a mash up, but when you've not eaten, a bit of a mixture can hit the spot :) I still feel a bit nauseous, but at least it's not due to hunger.

An attempt at an after dinner cuppa was thwarted by a buggered kettle, and so we had to rely on a bit of an old school technique with a pan on the hob to boil some water! As I'd not had my HeB I went with some cereal bars to go with my tea.

Oh dear, my Greatest Loser prize seems to have inadvertently slipped into the picture ;)

As my head is still pounding, and even a painkiller and my specs aren't really helping, I shall leave my blog there. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has left me lovely messages on FB and on Twitter, you made my day all over again when I got home :)

  1. Congratulations on ur fab award and you look amazing! :-) hope ur head clears soon i feel ur pain as ive always suffered from migraines too, my face droops and i cant use my hands :-( as well as sickness and lighy sensitivity horrid things but well done again amazing stuff.

    1. Thanks :) I've suffered for a fair few years now - seems to be clearing now thank goodness. Sounds like you have it worse than me though, hope you stay clear for a while x

  2. Congratulations on being a loser, and the greatest one at that! And you carry off a sash much better than me :) x

  3. Oh Karen :-( I can truely sympathize with you on the migraine front, there was a point where I was getting them so frequently and they were lasting so long that I couldn't tell where one ended and the next one kicked in. I'm now on daily medication to prevent them which seems to be working pretty well as I've had 2 since June last year. Congratulations on your award :-) xxx
