Discoveries and a Damn Good Friday :)

Hmm, is calling it Damn Good Friday blasphemous? Oopsie! Today has been a damn good day though, just simple, but lovely :)

I got out of work an hour early last night and so got into bed an hour early. I was a bit fidgety last night, and when I stirred at not long after 12 I didn't feel like I'd had enough sleep, however, an hour spent lazing in bed with Hague, chatting about everything and nothing and I felt much better when we finally did emerge into the cold...we're keeping the heating off in the name of budgeting! I did need a rather large milky coffee though, just in case ;)

With a bit of wake up juice inside me, we had a bit of a sit whilst deciding whether to eat or shop first. This took quite a while though, and in the end we just wanted to get the shopping out of the way! A bit of research had ensured we didn't overspend and in the end, by getting bits at Tesco, Asda and Aldi we got our weeks shopping for less than £30, £27.50 to be exact, not bad going eh? We also discovered these little beauties in Aldi....

99p for each pack of 10, and the Crunchy Fries are just 3½ syns, whilst the Cheese Curls are 3 syns, bit better pricewise than the Crunchy Curls at £1.40 for four! So get thee to Aldi for low syn bargains, they also had 29p bags of pasta and lots of veggies in the super 6. With the shopping done, including some inventive parking due to the hideous traffic, we headed home to finally get ourselves something to eat. In a rather worrying turn of events, we had the same breakfast.

I say the same, he had beans, but I'm a good girl and wanted my superfree, so went with mushrooms and tomatoes. We then set to the main business of the day....and sat on t'interwebz chatting to various lovely friends, well I did, Hague did lots of Avengers missions on his Facebook game. I got my 25 random facts up as well. Then, as it was bloody freezing, we decided to have a bath to warm up! Two hours, two episodes of Derek and many hot water refills later we emerged, nice, warm and relaxed. I had slipped into my onesie and an evening of much relaxing was planned. Firstly though, dinner. I had planned on making cannelloni, but decided that stuffing the tubes was way too much work for a lazy day and made lasagne instead. It was a team effort, with Hague making the tomatoey awesomeness from the other day (which had sweetener in it too) whilst I made the spinach and cheese mix for inside.

It was utterly gorgeous! Really full of flavour, and yet another for the make again list! It was pretty easy too. As I said, Hague did his tomato reduction, and I cooked off courgette, mushrooms and spinach, then I just stirred in some Quark and cottage cheese with a touch of nutmeg. I used that to make the lasagne layers, topped it with the tomatoey noms and cheese then baked for 25 minutes. It was already quite late though, so I spent most of the rest of the evening catching up on Twitter - when I say catch up, I mean engage in random awesomeness with TOK - and chatting to Shane. Not a bad way to spend an evening, and the simple fact I was wearing my onesie made me happy! After a while I needed something sweet and so my King of the Pineapple chopped my last one for me.

Nom, my last pineapple. Hurry up and get them in again please Aldi! After a bit of Rocky 5, I was peckish again and decided to give the new crisps a go, along with some Mikado, my nod to Easter :)

The verdict? A big thumbs up from me for the Crispy Fries, very much like French Fries, but much cheaper and fewer syns. Lovely job! With my snackage nommed, and the time now edging close to 1am, that's it from me for the day, and a lovely day it's been too.

Just too dangerous to have in the house this year, as I can't stop at one, yet another diet nomnomesis! I hope you've all had a lovely Good Friday, and have resisted those evil little curranty b*stards! Next stop resisting the Easter eggs :)

25 Random Facts About Me

Today (Thursday) a challenge was put forward to myself, and a few other bloggers by Gill (Slimming Mum). She had seen a random facts blog doing the rounds on t'interwebz and published her own, and then challenged me, weighlossbitch and TOK amongst others to do the same. As you may have noticed, I'm not one to shy away from sharing random crapola about myself, so may I present....

25 Random Facts About Me.
  1. I turned vegetarian at the age of 15, as something to try out to see if I could do it. That was 23 years ago.
  2. I have been engaged twice, married once and divorced once. I'm yet to receive a ring from Hague ;)
  3. My favourite colour is Purple
  4. This is my favourite motivational...
  5.  I sleep with a stuffed Basset Hound called CuddleDog, without him I can't seem to get my arms in a comfortable position to sleep!
  6. The two people I consider my closest friends (other than Hague) are people I have known less than a year.
  7. I had my tongue pierced for 14 years, but had to remove the stud last year. I miss it.

  11. My tipple of choice is Jack Daniels, either the regular with diet coke, or Honey Jack over ice.
  12. In 2011 I completed a photography 365 project, taking a photograph every day for a year. I kept it up for 18 months, and the last photo I took was of my SW books the day after I joined. I guess I can only have one focus at a time!
  13. I still have one of my baby teeth - in my head, not in a drawer somewhere :)
  14. I'm Pagan

  25. The final fact is courtesy of Hague....I will sit and watch re-runs of Friends over and over and over again, no matter how many times I've seen them.
So there you have it, 25 random facts about me! If you do a list yourself, please, please put the link in a comment below so I can get my nosey on ;)

The Thursday That Thinks it's a Friday

How wonderful are 4 day weeks? I'm no Christian, but I love Easter :) I actually woke up reasonably early, and as Hague was at work....yes work :) He started his new job yesterday...I lazed in bed, and then had a bath before going to collect him from the station. As he'd been the one at work, I cooked our dinner.

A simple minestrone soup, but I started the base off in the same way Hague had done the tomato sauce yesterday and boiled up a tin of tomatoes, onion and seasoning before adding in the vegetables, stock and pasta. I think adding passata negated the boiling down of the tomatoes, but the soup was still delicious, and did a great job of filling us both up. We then had the luxury of a couple of hours together before I had to head in for work, my last night of the week though, so not all bad.

It wasn't too bad when I got there either, with only one line running, so the faint, optimistic hope that maybe, just maybe we might get away early. First things first though, and my first break munchies.

Still loving the Red Berries squash as you can see! The lines went out shortly afterwards and the cleaning started. I'm not a fan, but with my music on, and left to my own devices to clean according to my system I'm quite happy really, and by getting stuck in time went past quite quickly and lunch time was soon upon me.

A definite change from the norm, but I really fancied a cheese and cucumber sandwich. It really hit the spot, although it wasn't quite as filling as my usual lunches but it was gorgeous, sometimes only a cheese sarnie will do :)

With lunch totally enjoyed, it was back to the cleaning, and we actually did get out a wee bit early at quarter to 5, so an extra hour of Easter for me :)

Work is now done until 2pm on Tuesday....Yay! Although Hague is back to work at 10am Tuesday morning, but it means a lovely long weekend for us, much needed as I'm working my next week off - which is going to be a right shock to the system! I hope you all have a lovely Good Friday...without too many Hot Cross Buns!

Don't let Easter derail you....and if you do fancy treating yourself, the shiny, sparkley, purple SW bus of awesomeness will be waiting for you on Tuesday! x

Pallets and Ponderings

Last night at work was a weird one. Very stop/start as we'd run out of pallets, how a huge factory and warehouse managed to run out of pallets is another question....but it meant that we had a lot of time of waiting around as the lines couldn't run. My mind always seems to have a wander at times like that and last night was no exception.

I found myself thinking about how much weight I've lost - and how much I still have to lose. About how much I still seriously dislike my body and wondering if that will ever change. I'm worrying about being left with loose skin, which I'm pretty sure I will be left with after losing such a huge amount of weight. I guess these are quite negative thoughts, but they didn't feel particularly negative at the time - they're things I will have to face up to at some point, but I won't let myself get despondent. I always knew this would be a long journey, and at the end of the day whatever body I'm left with, it will be smaller than the one I have now, and it will be a healthier body as well. Night shifts really are a bugger for overthinking everything!

Shall we get onto my food? Once again I found myself not overly hungry, perhaps my stomach is shrinking? Nah, it'll just be a non-hungry week lol! Anyway, I didn't get up until really late, 6.30, and so hadn't left myself that much time to get fed and showered before work! Once again I fancied comfort food though, and so sausage, mash and veggies was the order of the day.

I think I may actually be addicted to Quorn sausages! So yummy though, and I thoroughly enjoyed the cheesey broccoli and cauliflower too :) With that eaten, it was time to get going as I needed to top up the car as well. Why do I always forget these things until I'm just about to leave and have to rush?

When I got to work we were making this....

We make this most weeks, so I have no idea why the smell was so overwhelming today, the factory smelt delicious, a mix of spice and fruit and I knew I had to try some! There never seems to be any in the shop, so I hadn't tried it up until now, but when I had my first break there was some in the tea room and so I treated myself.

Ooh it was yummy! I had it warm (obviously) and I will definitely be trying to get some more, perfect for when it's cold! As I said, work was a pain, with the lines stopping all the time, so the highlights were pretty much my meal breaks! Lunch was something a bit different, but as we're budgeting, using up bits and bobs is a priority, so I had some gnocchi in a tomato sauce.

Hague had sorted it out for me, and the sauce was amazing! When I asked him about it, all he'd done was reduce down a tin of tomatoes with onion, salt, pepper and dried basil....it was so flavoursome, and all he'd done was mix it and left it to boil, top tip there from the Kitchen of Hague! I had both halves of my HeB too, and this time I opened up the Bear yoyo's for you to see what they are :)

My final break involved, some more red berry squash and a banana to get me through the last hour or two (with the lines still stopping far too often).

After work I made a quick pitstop to Tesco to pick up the few bits that are cheaper there, potatoes and courgettes before heading home to bed, there really is nothing like crawling into a lovely, cosy warm bed after a night shift!

So there we have my Wednesday :) Not a bad day really, despite my overthinking of everything! I woke up today with lots of lovely comments about my latest video diary too. I never set out to be an inspiration, or brave, or any of the other lovely things people say about me, but if I can help any of you, in any way, then that makes me happy :)

Oh, and coming over the weekend, 25 random facts about me - as I've been challenged by Slimming Mum :)

Short Blog, Long Shift

A quick blog today, as Tuesday was mostly spent at work! For some reason I wasn't hugely hungry, which is strange for me, as normally on a 12 hour shift I can't stop eating, so not many meals today.

I woke up to a barrage of comments on my blog, so thank you everyone, but all too soon it was time for me to eat and get myself gone to work. I really didn't know what I fancied, but Hague came to the rescue.

For once, no superfree, but sometimes you just want something nice and basic :) I then headed out to work, where as well as a 12 hour shift I had an investigation into my absence - something that's never nice to have to deal with - and now I just have to wait to find out the outcome. :( Not good, but once that was over, it was back to the normality of work on the factory floor.

Breakfast had obviously done the job of filling me up as I didn't want anything else to eat until my first meal break!

Pasta leftovers with 3 laughing cow extra light cheese triangles stirred in, something I've not done before, but something I'll definitely do again, as it added a lot of cheesiness for just half of my HeA. Work was long, very long, and I really started to struggle, feeling very tired quite early on in the shift. Not hungry though, as yet another break passed with me just having a drink rather than a snack, very odd behaviour for me, especially on a night shift.

My final meal break was at 2am, and it was a lot lighter than my first meal break.

I had planned on having Ryvita, but we had none, but we did have some of the wholegrain crackerbreads, but only 3, so half an HeB rather than a whole one....got to love mix and matching when the cupboards are getting bare eh?

That fortified me for the rest of the shift, which really seemed to drag, despite Hague holding out until gone 4am to keep me company! It's at times like that, when I realise that I am so lucky. I have a man who loves me, friends who offer me immeasurable support, both "real" and online. I have a job, my health, and the cutest Menagerie in the world. A couple of ladies on Twitter were talking about gratitude, and I think that sometimes it's a very positive thing to try and find something to be happy about every single day, and it's something I might start trying....so there you have today's. I'm grateful to have a man who has a stupid body clock like me who can keep me company on night shifts :)

Sorry for the rather sparse and short blog, but 12 hour shifts are not conducive to much excitement! I will share the rather fabulous achievement of Team Hague though, as he attended our normal weigh in. Last night he received his 2½ stone award, Slimmer of the Week AND Slimmer of the Month. I am so very, very proud of him, even if his is absolutely storming away with the Mitchy vs Hague challenge :)

Onesies and Weigh In

Monday's always seem to appear far too quickly, even more so when you've only had one day off over the weekend. As I'm working nights, I like to have a huge lie in on the Monday, but much as I tried this morning, it wasn't really happening. Hague got up, and I found myself checking out Facebook and chatting to friends rather than falling asleep. When the doorbell rang and I heard it was the postman delivering a parcel, all thoughts of sleep were banished as my Onesie of Awesomeness had finally arrived!!

How amazing?? I love it to bits, and in a way, it's a bit of a non-scale victory, as I'd have never fitted in it before I started SW. As I was up, I had a couple of cups of tea, but then was sent back to bed by Hague as otherwise I'd have been beyond shattered for my night shift.

A few hours sleep later and it was time for me to get up and head to weigh in. I normally weigh in on a Tuesday, but as I have the joys of a 12 hour night shift tomorrow, I plumped for weighing in tonight at another local group. I'm pleased to report that I managed to get rid of last week's gain, and another 1½lbs on top of that, a loss of 5½lbs, and a total gone now of 6st 12½lbs! Next week, I really want that 1½ to get my next award! That loss also means that I'm back over halfway!

After weighing in - and attempting to start a video diary on YouTube, without much success - I just about had time to eat and have a coffee before I had to get ready for work. Hague pretty much had dinner ready for me though - and my lunch for work too :)

Quick and simple, pasta with vegetables and in a tomato sauce, topped with my HeA of cheese. Perfect to keep me going during the night. With that eaten, and a coffee downed it was time to head to work.

I did manage to make it in on time, despite spending far too long in the car trying to work out why my YouTube videos were too quiet. I discovered that the skin on my phone actually covered up one of the microphones, and so a bit of adapting later and my first successful diary was uploaded (it's here if you want to take a look). Wih that sorted, it was a bit of a rush to get in and get onto the line :)

First break was something a bit different today. In the name of budgeting the Crunchy Curls have been ditched in favour of Asda smartprice maize snacks, a mere 57p for 12 bags, and they range from 3½ to 5 syns a packet, depending on the variety.

The salt and vinegar sticks are the highest synned, at 5 as they're 100 calories, but it made a nice change (and they're certainly a hell of a lot cheaper than Crunchy Curls!). I had some Bear yoyo's too, and a couple of Fruit Shoots from the work fridge.

A busy day meant that lunch arrived quite quickly. It's funny how you manage to train yourself to accept eating at all sorts of times when you work shifts, and lunch was eaten at just gone 2am!

Another Hague special, this time egg fried rice with some stir friend veggies and baby corn, along with a Shape crumble yogurt and a hifi bar. The only problem with having something nice and filling at this time of night is that I want to go to sleep after eating it....but alas, I still had 3 hours left of work before I could head home and nod off! I even had another break to take, and fuelled myself for the last couple of hours with a banana and a cup of green tea.

So there we have Monday. I'm writing this as my shift draws to a close, I still have an hour left, but when I get home it'll be straight to bed for me to get some sleep in before tomorrow's 12. I hope you do take a look at my video diaries (apologies for the first two which are stupidly quiet), as I'd love to have a bit more interaction with you all!

Sofa Sunday

Oh today was a long time coming that's for sure. A lovely lie in and a day of utter nothingness. For me anyway, Hague seems to have come over all productive and spent a large portion of the day doing random odd jobs around the house whilst I chatted away to various lovely peoples on various t'interweb platforms.

Despite my nap yesterday I was still tired enough to want to head to bed quite early, and I drifted off whilst Goonies was playing away. I then woke up at 6am, and took ages to get back to sleep. One of the hazards of shift work, and I do seem to find the switching between shifts harder and harder. I did manage to nod off again eventually and woke up again when Hague was stirring and decided it was time to get up.

We had decided that we were going to have a proper dinner today, and Hague had decided that we'd have it at "proper" dinner time of about 1-2pm. Problem is that's normally when we get up, and so for our first meal of the day, we had a roast dinner :)

Whilst Hague was preparing that I put some rice pudding into the slow cooker too, and so after an hour or so I had that as my dessert.

Perfect for cold days :) And utterly guilt free as I used my HeA of Almond Breeze milk :) After dinner, when Hague was talking to his boys I decided to be brave enough to finally use the Hang w/ app and did my first couple of broadcasts. I was hijacked by Boo though, and so she made a special guest appearance! Sunday then followed a usual pattern of social networking and watching films. For some reason last night there were a glut of great films on the telly, but we seemed to miss the start of all of them! In the end we plumped for Return of the Jedi, whilst I enjoyed the broadcasts of TOK and weightlossbitch on Hang w/.

When it was time for dinner, I decided to share that with the world on Hang w/ too :) Great fun, and something I think I'll do more of. If you weren't one of the 8 viewers, here's what I had...

A bit of a thrown together affair, but it was gorgeous. I roasted off a butternut squash, and then once it had been in for about 25 minutes I put some sliced red onions and courgettes into roast as well. Whilst they finished off I cooked some orzo and when that was cooked, stirred through some Quark, thyme and my HeB of Stilton, I then added the roast veggies and poured it all on top of the squash. Really, really tasty, and a good store cupboard recipe. As I still had some rice pudding left, I followed it up with some of that, but topped with one of my graze box nibbles - Bounty Hunter, which contained coconut, cranberries and chocolate.

It made a really nice change, and felt like a real, filling treat. It was 7½ syns though! With dinner eaten, and the temperature dropping (I hadn't put the heating on all day in the name of budgeting) we decided that bath and bed were the way forward :)

A rather lovely food day today, simple but very tasty food, and a more controlled levels of syns too. I also really enjoyed playing around with the Hang w/ app and I think it's something I'll be using quite a bit to add a video diary aspect to my journey now I've got over my initial nervousness!

The next week is my night shift week, so blogs will be a day late....which to be honest, has been what's been happening for the last week too....sorry! I'm also weighing in tonight as I have a 12 hour shift tomorrow and can't make my normal group :(

Where's My Weekend :(

I should really have got my blog up last night. I have no excuse other than the fact that it seemed like far too much effort for a tired girl! We were in bed pretty early too, so once again I'm playing catch up!

On a week of earlies it really seems like you don't get a weekend, with working Saturday, I get all confuddled and spend the day thinking it's Friday as I'm at work! Which means that I get all annoyed when I only get one day of a weekend! It doesn't take much to confuse the hell out of me that's for sure :) So Saturday morning started as the previous 5 days have done, with me, barely conscious, dragging myself out of bed and into work. When I got there all the lines were still running, which meant we would be in all day....a wonderful start to the day, and it wasn't until my line finished at just past 8 that I got my first break in.

Something a bit different, a lovely box full of pineapple and melon, really refreshing and a good start to a day full of cleaning. I don't actually mind cleaning at work too much, I'm left to my own devices, I sneakily listen to my music on my phone and can get on with my own little system of cleaning my machine, plus I can have lunch when I fancy it :)

I say lunch, as it's eaten at 10am, it's breakfast really, and my usual of muesli, fruit and yogurt, along with some Snack-a-Jacks as I was feeling very hungry. That meant I'd eaten all my food, and so my last break was just a cuppa as I waited desperately for 2pm to arrive and sweet, sweet freedom!!

I couldn't relax straight away though, due to Friday's laziness we had to go and get the shopping, which mean collecting some from Asda and picking up the (very) few bits which were cheaper at Tesco. Asda wasn't too bad, click and collect is a pretty fast way to shop, but Tesco was hell on earth. It was insanely busy - and did make me question why on earth people who don't have to shop on a Saturday afternoon would choose to do so. The shop was fully of people who must have been retired and entire familes of Mum, Dad and several kids....why on earth would you do that to yourself? Insanity. Anyway, we finally got out of there and headed home, a quick cuppa and I just had to get myself to bed for a nap!

A couple of hours, and a lovely long hot shower later and I finally felt human again and so joined Hague downstairs to enjoy the start of our weekend. At 7pm on a Saturday! First things first though, as I hadn't eaten for hours I was starving and so dinner was in order.

Eggs, sausages, wedges and a veggie mix of baked beans, mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes. It was bloody handsome, really hit the spot. So the weekend began, watching crap telly and chatting away to various lovely people on the t'interwebs, although I've still not managed to broadcast myself on hang w/ yet!

Quite late on in the evening, after discussing syn free peanut butter with TOK, my mind once more turned to food, and with the realisation that I still had my HeA to use, I treated myself to cheese on toast.

Got to love this "diet" right? With that eaten we headed up to bed, to snuggle up and watch The Goonies, my weekend may have started late, but so far, it's rather lovely :)

I thought I'd start putting how much I'm drinking on my food diary too, as it's quite an important part of eating healthily, keeping yourself hydrated. I used an online calculator to work out how much I should be having, and I should have around 4L when I'm at work, and half that at the weekend. Let's see how I go!

For the first time in a long while, I'm feeling like I'm struggling a bit this week. I know I mentioned it yesterday, but the feeling is still there. I wish I knew why, and I can only put it down to the disappointment of my last weigh in and the huge amount of hours I've worked this week getting me down. I also have an investigation into my absence at work next week due to my migraine, all little things, but those little things can cause chinks to appear in the armour of willpower. I won't let it shake me, I've come to far for that, and the lovely, comforting food I've had today has certainly helped to appease that feeling slightly. I'll be okay though, I'm sure it happens to the best of us at some point on our journey, but I'm not jumping off that SW bus just yet :)

Budgets and Buns!

Friday, the day most of us spend all week waiting for, the day that marks the end of work and the weekend at last. Not for me, despite already working 40 hours this week, Friday was just another day as on earlies I have to work Saturday too. Seriously, this shift has no redeeming qualities whatsoever!

Anyway, onto the food of the day, which I'm sure will contain no surprises :) First break at work was slightly diferent as we have run out of bananas, so a different fruit accompanied my cereal bar - today brought to you by Slimming World for a change.

So the usual start to my working day, which wasn't too bad as I was in a strangely good mood, and the machines were sort of behaving themselves as well. This is very odd behaviour for me, and so I put it down to lack of sleep, especially when I realised I was singing and talking to myself too.....ah, sanity, how I miss thee ;)

Soon though it was time for breakfast, and as I walked into the tea-room I was attacked by that most delicious of aromas......toasted hot cross buns. Is there anything nicer? This of course got me and TOK discussing hot cross buns, their hideous synnage and general nommy-ness, I think I have found another of my diet nemesis, or as I christened it yesterday on Twitter, a nomnomesis :)

So I sat in the tea room, eating my muesli, trying not to be obvious in my attempts to inhale the aroma right out of the air whilst I munched away! With TOK in command of operation Hot Cross Bun, trying to search out a SW friendly recipe, it was back to the line for me, to clock watching and general busyness until I could have another break :)

This break may actually have been worse. With no food to distract me, just a cuppa and a texting TOL (I'd forgotten my Kindle too!), someone was actually EATING the hot cross buns this time. There they were, a few feet from me, hot and buttered and smelling divine....I'm just hoping that smells don't have syns, otherwise I may have just had my limit as I sat there with my cuppa taking in the deepest breathes you can imagine! Torture, pure torture! However, I managed to survive, and headed back to the line with a task in mind. I had to come up with a list of meals for the week. Now, I never know what I'm going to fancy on any given day, so I didn't do a list for a meal for each day, just a list of several meals that we'd usually have during the week anyway. Then I worked out what we actually needed to cook them. This all sounds really simple, but usually we shop for things we've run out of, without thinking about what we already have in to cook from. So with Hague having stock counted the kitchen, and with our meal plan put together, a shopping list was created :) Quite a productive afternoon really, seeing as I was also running a packing machine :)

I was planning to have a cuppa, something to eat and then head out to get the shopping, however, once I'd got in, donned my scruffies/pyjamas and had a cuppa in my hand I seemed to find it rather hard to move. I was absolutely shattered. At this point I'd worked 48 hours, and been up for 10 hours. I was so tired :( So rather than actually go shopping, I consulted MySupermarket, found out what items on the list were cheapest where and drew up an Asda list to be clicked and collected, and a very small list of things which were cheaper at Tesco to go and pick up afterwards. My mind then turned to lunch, and a very budgety lunch it was too....

Remember the chilli we had the other day? Well, it turned out really quite liquidy, and so we'd dished it up with a slotted spoon and in rather a wonderful brainwave, Hague had saved the excess liquid and put it in the fridge, so with that thrown into a pan, along with a generous dollop of frozen mixed veg, lunch was go, and it tasted absolutely lovely, and once again, a way to use a meal twice!

My usual routine of nothingness was then disrupted by WeightLossBitch, who had discovered a new iphone app called hang w/. What this little app does is allow you to broadcast live to your followers, and then interact with them in real time, as they can ask you questions. It's a great little app, and it meant that I spend quite a while listening to her broadcasts from the day, myself and Hague chuckling away at her turn of phrase. I, of course, signed up (as MinxyMissK) and shall be broadcasting myself later - quite a scary prospect, but it would be lovely to have some of you listening, and maybe ask any burning questions you may have :)

Onto dinner then, which for once was the same for both of us.

That simplest of SW dishes, tomato and vegetable pasta topped with a HeA of cheddar. Just what be both fancied and it was delicious, funny how something so easy can really hit the spot! As I'd been to Aldi to pick up the things cheapest from there on the way home, dessert was a pineapple. Lovely.

So that was Friday, although today feels like Friday as it's finally my last day of the week. I'll work 56 hours this week, and I still don't have enough to get through April....fabulous! I shall not end on a negative note though. My blog is now up to date, I have a shopping list that should feed us both for a least a week for under £35, my onesie should be here any day now, and when I get home later I can have a big fat nap, a big fat bath, and the weekend can begin! Yay!

More Thanks and Too Much Work!

Yesterday was rather a big day for this little blog. A blog that I started just to help keep me on track on my Slimming World journey. I wasn't expecting many people to read it, and certainly never intended to find myself with over 100,000 views and with over 400 people liking my Facebook page! I know I've said it before, but every view, comment, email and message keeps me going. I vary my meals so as not to bore you, I photograph everything I eat so as not to mislead you, I share my life so you understand the pressures I put on myself and those that life throws at me. In return, I get support that is immeasurable, and will eventually help me get to target, and stay there. So again, thank you all.

After that lovely little bright spot shall we drop back down to earth with a bump? Back to the land of a 12 hour shift in a squash factory? Righto.....Thursday morning, 4.30am and a weary eyed me swears at the alarm clock before dragging herself out of bed, into clothes, and off to work. I do find earlies so very hard, and this was my second 12 hour shift of the week, so you can imagine my mood! The machines weren't behaving very well either, and so it was with relief that I made it to my first break, and I was already feeling rather hungry.

The usual first break fare of Benefit bar, banana and green tea. I am enjoying the different flavours in my little variety box, and find them all refreshing, which is what you need at work, well I do anyway! Speaking of drinking, ever since the lovely Weight Loss Bitch talked about hydration in one of her blogs, I've been pondering how much I drink. I always put away much more than 2l a day, and I was wondering just how much I actually need. There are a fair few calculators online, and so I had a play in a quieter moment. They consider your weight, levels of exercise and diet to work out how much fluid you need. It was quite an eye-opener to realise that due to my work, where I'm lifting, walking, and on my feet a lot, I'm classed as highly active when I'm here, and I was recommended to have around 4l a day to keep myself hydrated at work, and about half that when I'm at home (weekends and weeks off). I've been using a little app called Waterlogged to record what I'm drinking, and most days I do manage at least that - so obviously, when I'm feeling hungry, I actually am :)

Back to work, and to my breakfast then. Once again, it was a similar story, except it used the last of my pineapples :( Hopefully Aldi will still have some when we go tonight, and instead of muesli I had rice pudding, which is officially my favourite breakfast!

So filling and totally yummy! With work busy it was a struggle to keep up chats with Hague and TOK, but I did my best, got to keep myself sane after all, and my final break passed with just another cuppa. At 2pm on a Thursday, we have a quick team brief, and so it was to that I headed before having my lunch. The one chink of hope in a 12 hour shift on a Thursday, that extra break from the line :)

Lunch was leftover chilli, snack a jacks and a yogurt. Leftovers really are a godsend when you want something quick and I would always recommend overcooking everything you make so there are always quick meals in the freezer for when the Can't Be Arsed's strike! With the combination of briefing and lunch it was 3pm before I was back on the line, not so bad, and those 3 hours passed by soon enough and I could head home to Hague.

We'd already talked about what I fancied, and I'd decided on something reasonably light as I pretty much had to head straight to bed afterwards and so he did me a lovely frittata, full of veggies and topped with cheese, simple, but delicious and exactly what I'd fancied.

Accompanied beautifully by some Disney fairy spaghetti dosed with HP Guiness sauce. We then turned our thoughts to budgeting, I've already told you how tight things are looking in the coming month, so we have decided to bargain chase this week with our shopping. We have a Tesco and Asda close, plus an Aldi and Lidl, so we have decided to give MySupermarket a go, where you can compare current prices of anything you buy to find out where it's cheapest, so we worked out which meals we'd have for the week, and what extra ingredients we needed to make them. Hopefully this will become the norm for us to try and save those pennies!

Before we got finished though, it was time for bath and bed, so up I went, with some Mikado as a little treat to enjoy whilst I had my soak.

Another high syn day really, but I'm still within them. I'm blaming a combination of tiredness and the horrible weather! I am finding myself struggling a wee bit this week and I'm not sure why. I'm craving sweet things, and thinking about off plan foods for no real reason. Perhaps I'll treat myself to something that feels bad, but is on plan tonight to try and curb the cravings. I'm not feeling unmotivated at all, I'm still on plan, but my mind is turning to the wrong types of food, I shall not let naughty food win though, can't let you all down eh? ;)

Attack Of The Munchies

I don't know what came over me yesterday, it was eat, eat, eat all day long! I'm not sure if it was a sort of backlash against my gain, or just one of those hungry days, but let's just say it was a good job I had to go to bed early!

So shall we begin? As always I woke up whinging and groaning at the alarm clock and got myself to work half asleep. I didn't make the mistake of not eating today though and grabbed myself a banana along with my cuppa during my first break.

Luckily work continued on in the same vein as yesterday, with the machines behaving themselves, and so I had lots of time to chat away to TOK as she enjoyed her birthday. I'm getting the first breaks this week, which means breakfast comes along nice and early - which is good as I'm always hungry by the time it comes around and I had a lovely big meal waiting for me.

Good old muesli and yogurt, although this marks the end of my box of simply fruity muesli and from now on it's Jordan's boring stupid muesli for me :( Anyway, that'll be Friday, and I'm talking about Wednesday. I must stop distracting myself! Along with pineapple and an Alpen light it was a good filling breakfast.

I should have known what kind of day it was going to be when even after that lovely breakfast I was hungry again on my final break and put away a packet of Crunchy Curls! Even after that my mind was already turning to what to have for lunch when I got in! First things first though, and as soon as work was done and I was home it was time for a cuppa :)

That was swiftly followed by a couple of bowls of my brocolli, spinach and blue cheese soup, so easy it's untrue, frozen onion and brocolli, stock, garlic, thyme, and then once that lot has cooked away for a while, lob in some fresh spinach and laughing cow light blue cheese triangles :) Easy peasy!

It was a bit heavy on the stock, so a bit runny, but it still tasted lovely! Obviously not lovely enough to stop me having yet another cuppa and have my mind turning to dinner within a couple of hours. I know...a massively hungry day...Dinner was chilli, and in the name of budgeting frantically, Hague had saved the peelings from yesterdays potatoes and we had those with the chilli. They're delicious, and potato skins made a nice change from wedges!

Might as well get two meals from the same potatoes eh? The veggie chilli had turned out a bit runny, and so we kept the sauce for me to have as soup another day. Penny pinching ahoy in our house at the moment :) I'm sure you won't be suprised to hear that I now wanted dessert. My syns were rapidly dwindling and so I just threw a hot chocolate sachet (a 40cal Cadbury's caramel one) into a tub of Quark with some sweetener.

I think if it had been prepared earlier, it would have been more like an Angel Delight or mousse, but as I shoved it down straight away, it still tasted pretty much like Quark and hot chocolate....another lesson learnt!

Even that wasn't enough and before bed, I had the last of my syns in the shape of 5 Mikado and a cup of my camomile and maple tea in a desperate attempt to quell my sweet tooth cravings!

Guest appearance there by Jadey's rear end :)With Mikado munched and tea drunk, it was time to head to bed to try and get a decent night's kip before another 12 hour shift :(

It's not that often I use up all my syns, but yesterday I had a massive sweet tooth that could not be curbed, which is quite unlike me. However, I stayed within my syns, and tonight I just won't have the opportunity to munch the night away as it's a case of home, eat, bath, bed on a 12 hour shift.....still, only 25½ hours until the weekend *sob*
