Down Days and Slack Tart Syndrome!!

Arrgghhhh! It's Friday and I haven't blogged since *goes to check* Wednesday when I put up Tuesday's delights for you to enjoy! I'm afraid I'm going to plead night shift syndrome again as otherwise it's just me being a slack tart once more ;o)

It does seem to have been a long week though, and as last night was a 12 hour shift, surely I can be excused for missing a blog or two? I'll get you nicely updated now!

Before work, dinner was a Hague special. He'd stated that he fancied creamy chicken pasta, and so I hijacked that, and he kindly did me a Quorn version.

Plenty of pasta, with mushrooms, onions and butternut squash and the creamy bit was 4 laughing cow blue cheese triangles and quark. It was delicious and set me up nicely for work.

Once again I  varied up that first break snack. Sort of.

I actually couldn't wait for my lunch! After the decidedly diety lunch of yesterday, I went in the opposite direction and had pizza and savoury muffins! Yummy!

Mmmmm diety! I can't remember who posted about using the Warburtons sandwich thins as a pizza base, but 2 little pizzas for 5 syns? Heaven! I'd topped them with onions, tomatoes and mushrooms and 1/2 my HeA of cheese. They were gorgeous, and perfect to fend off a pizza craving! I also had 4 little muffins and a yogurt.

After that little lot, I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear that last break passed by without a snack - and so we'll head straight my food diary for Wednesday.

And so we hurtle into Thursday night. Another 12 hour shift. This one was an extra one, aren't I lucky?? I woke up feeling awful though - really down and depressed. A feeling I'd not had in months, but I pushed it to the back of my mind and got on with the routine of the day. Namely having something to eat before work - you don't get much time to do much else on 12's!

A nice big omelette, stuffed to the gills with veggies (tomatoes, mushrooms, courgettes and onions), with some wedges and even the addition of Tinkerbell spaghetti couldn't lift me out of the glums.

With the grumps hanging over me, I headed to work - an improvement over previous months that's for sure - with a bag stuffed with lots of SW friendly foods to keep me going. When I got to work, I tried my best to keep a lid on the bad feelings, but that horrible teary mood was just below the surface :(

The tedium of work kept me going, I just turned my mind off and kept my head down, and succumbed to some emotional eating on my first break.

Sometimes a girl just needs something sweet, but obviously snack a jacks are incapable of actually cheering you up, much as they taste delicious :)

My next break was my first meal break, food courtesy of Hague massively overcatering on pasta yesterday!

A pasta salad, something I've not had for a long time, with butternut squash, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, feta and garlicy dressing. The yogurt did provide a rather strangely satisfying moment though...

A clean lid! I'm definitely a lid-licker, can't be wasting good yogurt - but for some reason that clean lid made me smile!

Speaking of making me smile, a huge t'interwebz hug must go to the awesome Other Karen for doing her absolute best to cheer me up and banish the gloomy mood by sending many pictures of Doug to make me smile, all of which are now on my PC slideshow at work :)

Seriously, if you're not smiling at Douglas, check your pulse, you might actually be dead! When my boss came into work, he asked if I was okay...big mistake. The floodgates opened and he took me off for a 5 minute breather. He chatted away to me, about work, about training he has planned for me, and successfully took my mind off the tears, and so I felt much more able to cope with the rest of the shift after talking to him. Along with my boss, thanks must also go to all my lovely FB friends who sent messages to cheer me up too. It genuinely helped.

With the work hours zooming past (no - they actually were, no sarcasm here), it was soon time for my next break, more sweetness!

Soon enough it was time for yet another meal break (or third Hobbitsey lunch as Hague christened it) and once again my ability to overestimate soup worked in my favour as it meant I could have some more roast dinner soup.

Plus more muffins, and my usual yogurt. After filling up with all that food, all I wanted on my last break was a cuppa, which as the more observant of you might notice, means that I'd only had one Alpen Light, and that does not a Healthy Extra make....

As I had to pop to Tesco on the way home (fry light is on offer, can't afford to say no to a 78p saving!), and thought I would have a quick look for the new Alpen Light flavour - Lemon Drizzle. Now.....my favourite cake is Lemon Drizzle, in fact I adore anything sweet and lemony, so these sounded right up my street.

I found them, I ate one and O.M.G. they are gorgeous! Utterly divine, and I'll be having one of these babies in a cheesecake concoction before long that's for sure! If you're near a Tesco, got get some :) They have the SlimmingWorldFiles seal of approval!

With my Alpen Light demolished, and the other bits purchased, it was beddy byes time for me.

So there you are. All up to date :) Finally :) So now just one more shift stands in the way of me and my weekend. A weekend without Hague unfortunately as he's heading up to Barnsley on the train, but a weekend of much relaxing after what has seemed like a long old week! Back to normal next week though, if I skip a blog, there is no excuse, so please give me a virtual kick up the bottom if I do!

  2. A single Alpen light does a healthy extra make, it's a speed food. Obviously you're bonkers if you do only have one when you're 'allowed' two though, teehee!
Hope you feel batter soon, the doldrums are not a happy place to be x

  4. Yeah my new SW book confused me by having both 1 Alpen Light and 2 Alpen Lights listed as counting as a HEx B, mind it doesn't take much to confuse me
