The Hunger Games

Today has been quite a quiet day. I managed less sleep last night, and am hoping to stay up a bit later as I can't spend my whole life in bed!

As I didn't get out of bed until 1pm, I really should have gone straight to brunch, but I decided to start with breakfast.



Only a small one, but it was washed down with a large cuppa. As the smallest thing is still making me tired I decided to have a day with my Kindle. I've been meaning to read The Hunger Games for a while and I gave it a good go today and managed to finish the first one, and have dived straight into the second one. I'm always a bit wary when books have a lot of hype, but I have to admit I really enjoyed it. I'll have to watch the film now! :)

Lunch was only a couple of hours after breakfast and I polished off all of the leftover pearl barley stew - which had really thickened up in the fridge. Yum.


I'll definitely be making this one again, perfect now it's getting cold. 

After a brief excursion to pick up Hague's train tickets and get some cash out ready for his Barnsley visit I really fancied a simple dinner, and the lovely Hague obliged perfectly.


Sometimes only a lightly fried egg will do. You really have to love Slimming World, wedges covered in cheese and served up with dunky eggs? On a diet? Bloody marvellous :) I finished off with my favourite current dessert, 4 syn Eton Mess.


As you may have noticed it's been another hungry day today - not that I mind, my body needs to mend itself properly, and food can only help with that.

I guess today has been quite surreal really. I've been reading The Hunger Games whilst Hague has been watching The Mighty Boosh on Netflix. Post apocalyptic drama fused with very random and silly humour - such is life in this house :)

I'm sorry for the rather tedious blogs of late, my life is rather uninteresting as I try to get better (not that it was a hive of activity before...) but hey, you're not here for the gossip, you're here for the food right? :)
