Taking Advice

One of the best things about being a member of a Slimming World group rather than going it alone is the support. I can honestly say I've never had a group or consultant as supportive as my lovely Central Yarmouth group and my amazing consultant Claire.

After yesterday's gain, I asked Claire to check my food diaries, just to make sure there was nothing there that was glaringly obvious. She called me and we had a long chat about my diaries, and there is no problems there, so we discussed some changes I could make to see if they make the difference. Her suggestion was to cut out a HeB. Now, that might sound odd, but quite often I am struggling to eat all my He's and she felt that rather than forcing down calories I don't want, it might help to cut out a HeB, and her suggestion was bread, as that can be one of the things that stop weight loss.

I'll give anything a go to get my weight off, and so this week I'll be having no bread, and only one HeB. So let's see how that goes!

Another spanner in the works today has been my sleep. I am well on the road to recovery from a nasty bout of depression, and I'm now left with one rather hideous symptom. Exhaustion, not matter how much sleep I get, I'm shattered, and this morning I was just utterly beyond tired. I struggle on earlies at the best of times, but today would have been my 10th day of early shifts with only Saturday's lie in in between, and I'm struggling. I didn't make it into work, and didn't get up until 3.30pm, so my diary might be a little on the light side today!!

Anyway.........enough about me! Today's first meal (no idea what to call it as it's being eaten at 5pm) is scrambled eggs, mushrooms and quorn sausages.

Dinner was somewhat intriguing. Last night at group, Claire (my consultant) mentioned a recipe for tomato soup, not that exciting maybe but this soup was supposed to taste like Heinz cream of tomato soup, which is rather delicious, but also rather synful at 11 syns a can. I wrote the recipe down, but luckily I won the raffle prize containing the ingredients so that's what I cooked tonight.

It was beyond simple, and amazingly does actually taste like the Heinz soup, but it's syn free! How's that for a great recipe?

Heinz style tomato soup

2 tins of chopped tomatoes
1 tin of beans
1/2 pint of vegetable stock
4 small silverskin pickled onions

Put all the ingredients into a pan, bring to the boil and then simmer for 20 mins or so, then blend. That's it! The recipe does make a fair amount of soup. I'll get at least 3 bowls out of it! I think I might try it with a He of brie, as that would work wonderfully well! Please give it a go and let me know your verdict!

My snack before bed will be a glass of milk and my cereal bars, as I'm not managed a single He so far today! Oops! Hopefully I'll feel most rested tomorrow and things will be back to normal, although I'm hopefully heading for the Great Yarmouth Beer and Cider Festival tomorrow to take some photos, so that will be a test of willpower, not a syn will pass my lips beforehand so I can sample some beer!
